Dear Partners, supporters and Friends
This is the end of another amazing year of growth and God's continued provision and blessing on the Orphan Care Foundation. This was a highlight year in which all our objectives were met and tangible progress could be observed in some areas of our ministry to children in need.
WITHOUT YOU OUR MINISTRY WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE; THANK YOU.
Highlights and Progress:
This year was undoubtedly the year in which the work of the past 3 years in the Westlake community started to show clear signs of the impact of our efforts.
Our areas of impact:
Thursday’s orphan and vulnerable group
We experienced an extraordinary year with these children. The group has grown from 15 last year to 35+ this year.
Projects conducted during the year:
First foster care house in Westlake – Home from Home
Home-From-Home provides supported and supervised community-based foster care for orphaned, abused, neglected and vulnerable children through a network of small, family homes in disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
Their vision: "We believe that living in a small family unit with a dedicated foster mother or parents and no more than six children, is the next best place for children who can’t be cared for by their own biological families. Our children grow up in their home communities and culture, where their home language is spoken. They have a foster family to support and care for them and we hope that one day they will either be reunited with their biological families, or failing that, that we have provided them with the necessary grounding to lead happy, successful lives."
We started discussions to partner with Home from Home to help raise funds and to sponsor individual children in this house. One of the children we have in our kid's club program was placed in this home.
Sponsorship for Children to participate in national wrestling championship
The OCF sponsored 4 boys from Westlake to participate in the SA national championship for wrestling. Sergio, who is one of the young leaders in training, won a bronze medal.

Bed for a child project
This project was launched this year in March. Aluref, a company from Richards Bay, offered to help us with this project. They supply industrial services to BHP Billiton in Richards's bay and make use of imported products in wooden crates. We are working on designs to recycle this wood into beds for children.
Rescue food packs
We identified a need amongst the Thursday group of children to have rescue foods packs available at two outlets in Westlake, where children can ask when in need of food.
Love and self respect packs
We also have stock available of hygiene packs we call Love and Self Respect packs at the same outlets for children in real need.
Sponsored children
We continue to sponsor individual children with food, clothes, school fees and transport.
OCF Statements
The OCF Financial statements for the year ending February 2011 have been audited and completed by Greenwoods chartered accountants.
Our report as a Non-profit organization has also been submitted to the Department of Social Development.
We look forward to continuing in our successful partnership into next year with God’s guidance.
I wish you and your families a joyous, peaceful & blessed Christmas and New Year.
Blessings

Letter from one of the children:
My name is Bafana Nkatazo.
I used to struggle to get something but now I am not. I went to school with no money in my pocket or a snack to chew, I went to a school where your child can never go! I had to pay R50 for my school fee but I could'nt afford it, why cause I was swimming in the middle of poorness.
I lost my mother when I was 11 years old, I don't wanna talk of my father cause I never saw him, neither to see in photos or pictures. When I lost my mother, from then I lost my potential, but for a second I thought that I got my three sisters and three brothers so nothing to worry about. But I never saw any changes; all I did was to swim in poverty and poorness.
If it was'nt for Martin, the man who took me from hell and took me somewhere with tenderness. Even now I would have been swimming in the crazy none potential swimming pool.
Now I feel like a person again, but im not rushing things im taking them slowly. And when I succeed you will see the changes. I will never let my children suffer the same I did in life!
